“You can’t run away from your problems”.
An uninspired statement designed to dampen someone’s wingspan, as uttered to an intrepid woman by a well meaning friend as she planned to ‘run away’ on her next creative adventure…
Sure, you can’t numb your problems, or deny them, or even for too long, self-medicate them… but take wide, creative space?
I say, absolutely!
Those who implore you with the above admonishment may simply lack their own ambition for neural stimulation and adventure!
If the flow in your life has been as stale as three-day-old beer, the most magical way to aerate the cobwebs is to take a trip!
Oh, to feel the rush of jumping on a plane, slipping behind the wheel, or even sneaking off on foot for a day of exploration…
New neuro-pathways are laid with each fresh sight or verbal, or olfactory exchange.
If a wider berth beckon you, if the waters of your current creative or romantic well run dry, then I grant you (and may you gift yourself) the delicious permission to run away.
We gain perspective through distance, and self-insight through that much yearned-for breathing space. Is there a better vantage point to digest a pressing, painful situation?
And tell your fuddy-dud of a friend that you WILL indeed face and transform all you need to, but from the mile-high perspective of a jet plane.
To all my creative spirits and nomadic souls: drop me a 💓 if you needed to read this today. 🏝⚓️🗺✈️
